Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#39 - ARTHUR DARVILL
Q: What was it like going from Doctor Who to something as big as Legends of Tomorrow in terms of scale and energy?
It was a huge shift in vibe—very different working rhythms and production pressures—but it also offered a new freedom to explore a completely different kind of character while still leaning on the same craft, which was exciting and rejuvenating.
#39 - ARTHUR DARVILL
Q: So, Arthur, welcome to Half the Picture. How are you doing today?
I'm very good, cycling here and feeling connected to my childhood in Birmingham, which was a lovely grounding moment before we started talking about all these big projects.
#40 - STEVEN PRICE
Q: How did your early influences shape your approach to film scoring?
Price explains how listening to Beatles records, George Martin, and early exposure to listening across multiple speakers sparked an enduring fascination with how different sonic elements can interact, which later informed his approach to making scores feel like living, interconnected soundscapes.
#38 - ANDREW LEWIS CALDWELL
Q: What was your approach to developing Dirk Landon, given the character's obscure origins?
Caldwell focused on creating a character from the ground up with a clear internal desire, drawing from the noir world and a showbiz-influenced backstory, rather than mimicking existing archetypes.
#38 - ANDREW LEWIS CALDWELL
Q: How much room was there for improvisation on Spider Noir, especially with Nick Cage?
There was limited script improvisation, but a lot of freedom to improvise the emotional delivery and moments; Cage also occasionally added unplanned performances, like the musical moment, which Caldwell had to roll with.
