  • New format needs to go

The new format of smaller interviews which are then repeated in the longer version needs to go. You can’t listen back to back with out having to skip over the shorter episodes. Really tricky if you’re listening whilst run/riding.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What the US and Iran agreed to, minister calls out One Nation + outrage sells
Q: Ed, with all of the stuff that you've just talked about in mind in terms of politics and rage baiting, what can politicians do if they want to fight against this stuff or compete with it?
Promote authenticity, acknowledge real grievances, and shift toward substantive solutions rather than just fueling outrage; use constructive engagement and transparent communication to rebuild trust.
INTERVIEW: Why "angertainment" is driving social media
Q: If you were advising politicians on how to combat this, what would you suggest besides adopting the outrage playbook?
The key antidotes are authenticity and acknowledging real grievances. Leaders should speak honestly, connect on a human level, and address underlying concerns rather than simply amplifying anger. Also, focusing on solutions and supporting high-quality information sources helps restore trust and counterbalance the outrage cycle.
INTERVIEW: Why "angertainment" is driving social media
Q: Can you talk to us a bit more about how this is playing out in politics? Is it only the right that's employing these strategies, or is it the left as well?
Outrage dynamics have become a bipartisan tool in modern politics; decision-makers and campaigns increasingly manufacture or amplify outrage to break through online noise, with strategies that cut across ideological lines. The most effective actors are those who understand how to game social platforms to maximize engagement and visibility, not just push policy detail.
Pauline's 'monoculture' plan, the pokies problem + World Cup drama
Q: Dr. Francis, why do you think pokies have received less attention than sports betting?
She argues that pokies have historically caused the greatest harm, and there needs to be broader attention to all forms of gambling, including sports betting, with policy measures like a national regulator and pre-commitment systems.
A new political party just dropped, terror threats foiled + the climate fight meets human rights
Q: How will you manage policy if there isn't a single party line?
The constitution and collaboration between the two leaders will guide policy, preserving free votes for MPs while building common ground on key issues.
