Whether natural or man-made, disasters attract a strange mixture of horror and fascination. However, the spectacle of devastation is only ever one part of the story. Take a closer look, and you will find tales of extraordinary human endurance and heroism, stories that veer from the horrific to the oddly humorous, and lessons that can be learned to make our world safer. I discovered this podcast last night by accident. I’ve only listened to two episodes so far. The first one was on the Victoria Hall Crush Disaster . I wasn’t sold on the podcast at first- noticed Kari paused quite a lot in her commentary. I’ve just listened to the one on the Empire State Building plane crash disaster and now realise Kari’s pauses in the other one were probably down to emotional distress, given the content of the tragedy. Sorry Kari.😔

I’m so glad I could find a disaster podcast without the explicit rating so I can listen to it! I love it! Keep up the good work!
No nonsense, no dramatic music. Just the facts. Which is all a show like this needs. Excellent.
Very to the point, respectful and well told. I used to listen to a US pod about disasters but it became more and more a self indulgent screed from the podcaster. As soon as I discovered this I unfollowed the other one and am following this one. Thank God for a dignified English accent!!
Thanks for re starting it Kari. Keep up the good work!
I really agree with mishiburg
