  • Insightful and very current

This is a great program - congrats and Thank You for such an insightful podcast! I work in the localization industry and also happen to end up in it “by accident”, but I’m glad I never looked back. Listening to your podcast has inspired me to continue to learn even much more about the language industry and all its ramifications, so much so that now I’m continuing my education in the field. I just discovered the program this year but I have been catching up with all previous episodes. Today, I ha... more

  • Smug much?

I just listened to the first episode and have to say that I found Renato's almost complete disregard for the work that translators do (we "are like toilet paper - you don't notice us until you need us") to be a huge turn off. His contention that his role as an LSP manager will continue to grow and evolve while the translator's role fades into obscurity is not only laughably smug, but pretty inaccurate if you look at current trends in the field.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is your digital communication truly accessible to everyone?
Q: What role does AI play in accessibility, and how should organizations manage it going forward?
AI can accelerate transcription, captioning, and content generation, but it must be guided by human oversight to ensure accuracy, appropriate context, and non-bias, with the aim of augmenting human effort rather than replacing it.
Is your digital communication truly accessible to everyone?
Q: Why is it important to involve end users, including people with disabilities, in the design and testing process?
Because diverse user experiences reveal barriers that experts might miss; their input leads to more usable, effective content and products that reach a broader audience and reduce risk.
Is your digital communication truly accessible to everyone?
Q: What does accessibility mean to you in practical terms for everyday communications?
It means designing content so anyone, regardless of their abilities, can access and understand it from the outset, using plain language, captions, logical structure, and inclusive visuals, not just meeting a legal checklist.
Cultural Intelligence Series - What it takes to make enterprise AI work in the real world
Q: Why do AI proofs of concept often look good in isolation but fail in production?
Because proofs focus on a happy path with clean data and minimal governance, whereas production must handle messy data, security, user management, and robust error handling across large volumes, requiring governance and fail-safes to prevent cascading issues.
Cultural Intelligence Series - When AI goes global: Culture, trust and the limits of scale
Q: What steps should leaders take to keep AI culturally competent at scale?
Define the core culture, map regional cultural values, create and test prompts for different markets, use local cultural experts for evaluation, and iterate with feedback to maintain alignment as markets evolve.
