  • Some Observations About the Glenn Diesen Podcast

I have listened to Glenn Diesen’s podcast for many months and, more recently, on an almost daily basis. Few people produce long-form geopolitical interviews with the consistency, depth, and range that Diesen does. His guests frequently include distinguished scholars, diplomats, military analysts, historians, and economists whose perspectives receive little attention in mainstream Western media. Conversations with figures such as Jeffrey Sachs, John Mearsheimer, Lawrence Wilkerson, and Alexander ... more

  • Accused of being a shill for Russia…

So, I took a listen to three episodes of this podcast to find out.

Ah, that would be a definite yes on that claim.

But, still interesting to listen to - as long as you are able to know enough to be able to see through his national conservatism propaganda.

  • Such a great show

High-level, intelligent conversations that everyone should hear. You’ll learn more about how world events are unfolding by listening to Glenn Diesen for one week than you’ll learn in 5 years of cable news consumption. And I’ve never heard a single advertisement! It’s incredible. It’s almost like he’s doing this show for the right reasons or something.

  • The whole truth?

I appreciate the less well publicized opinions shared. But I can’t understand why Professor Marandi never gets challenged on how the Iran government has terrorized its citizens. He makes a lot of good points about the actions of the US but paints an incomplete (and overly rosy) picture of the Iranian regime. Let’s do truth but not selectively.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Lawrence Wilkerson: Trump Sacrifices the Republic to Preserve the Empire
Q: What were the miscalculations that weakened Western powers, and could retrenchment help?
Miscalculations included underestimating adversaries like China and Russia, overreliance on military solutions, and overestimation of the Western model's universality; retrenchment could help if accompanied by credible diplomacy and reset of strategic priorities.
Lawrence Wilkerson: Trump Sacrifices the Republic to Preserve the Empire
Q: What role does diplomacy play in today's geopolitics, and how has the military-industrial complex affected it?
Diplomacy should be the lead instrument of foreign policy, but it has been sidelined by militarized approaches and economic interests, leading to greater erosion of diplomatic norms and increased global risk.
Chas Freeman: Middle East in Transition & a New World Order
Q: What happened to basic diplomacy and analysis, and why does diplomacy seem dead in the West?
The guest attributes it to changes in democratic politics, media consolidation, the rise of social media, leadership focused on ego over policy, and a shift toward unilateralism, which undermines traditional diplomatic practices.
Seyed M. Marandi: Morocco Invades Spain? The U.S. Disciplines Its Proxies
Q: I was wondering, how do you see this and how does it affect Iran?
The discussion suggests that Western power plays, particularly those backed by Israel, undermine European states while complicating Iran's strategic calculations in the region, reinforcing Iran's stance against coercive diplomacy.
Seyed M. Marandi: Morocco Invades Spain? The U.S. Disciplines Its Proxies
Q: And this is, well, from the video footage we see, they're arriving in trucks, and it seems very much coordinated as it would have to be. How do you make sense of this?
The events are interpreted as a deliberate, organized act rather than a spontaneous refugee influx, signaling a coordinated political move tied to Spain's policies and a broader regional-polarization dynamic.
