Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Capitalism Has Entered its Most Dangerous Stage | GEH with Clara Mattei
Q: Is China socialist or capitalist, and why is this distinction important?
China combines substantial state control with market activity; the key difference is that the state, not private capital, directs the major economic outcomes, which demonstrates a model where a socialist orientation coexists with capitalism.
Capitalism Has Entered its Most Dangerous Stage | GEH with Clara Mattei
Q: How do you view the role of the state in economic life?
The state is essential to manage crises, maintain the two pillars of capitalism, and strategically intervene to sustain accumulation; without organized, pro-people state action, the system collapses under its own contradictions.
Capitalism Has Entered its Most Dangerous Stage | GEH with Clara Mattei
Q: What do you see as the fundamental flaw of capitalism today?
The system is intrinsically exploitative, with accumulation prioritized over human needs, leading to vast inequality, dependency on wage labor, and the subordination of the Global South within a global imperial order.
Mohammad Marandi Reveals Iran's True Nuclear Power Goal
Q: Do you think that this will change Iran's thinking about nuclear weapons? And how do you think that aspect will go from here?
Iran argues that it maintains a moral stance against weapons of mass destruction, but acknowledges the strategic calculations in a hostile neighborhood; while historically opposing nuclear weapons, Iran may reassess if security dynamics shift significantly, yet currently emphasizes deterrence and resilience within a broader axis of resistance.
Mohammad Marandi Reveals Iran's True Nuclear Power Goal
Q: So, okay, now, according to you, how would you reconstruct the history of Iran, the development of Iran's nuclear capabilities, going back to the early days when the West was all in favor of Iran, at least having nuclear power?
Iran's program originated with Western support and investment, but after the revolution the West blocked its development; Iran viewed the program as sovereign and peaceful, while Western powers used nuclear rhetoric to justify pressure and sanctions, leading to a complicated, politicized trajectory that Iran now seeks to redefine within a framework of nonproliferation and regional balance.
