  • Incredible and Heartfelt Podcast for Anyone interested in Comics and Media!

Man, can’t praise this show highly enough!

The Bookclub Bois and all their guests are very down to earth and genuine, but also *incredibly* funny and witty. They bring an insightful analysis to the stories and characters they cover, and the creatives involved In their creation. You can truly tell they love this sphere of Storytelling. They’re incredibly responsive to their community and are willing to talk about a wide sphere of stories coming out, and not just the Big 2 publishers.

To Aeric and the Geekspained Posse,

    5 STARS 5 STARS 5 STARS 5 STARS!!!!!

First, thank you for getting me through the high, the low times, and everything in between. It has been a godsend of song and dance, hot takes, and humor. I stumbled upon this podcast and listened to Aeric give a pitch (what up pitches?)

I quickly listened to Aeric and Matt Draper discuss their favorite DD stories (part 1), Top 7 Crime Stories, Cap stories, and Miles stories. All of these were very well thought out and ... more

  • Great Book Club!

Revisiting runs I loved in high school. The guys know their stuff. Maybe definitely walk on egg shells if you’re a guest but I’m finally starting to understand who the “put a chick in it and make her gay” writing is for (generational misunderstanding)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

CREATOR CLUB: David Pepose on SPEED RACER
Q: Where can listeners follow you and get updates on Speed Racer and your other work?
Fans can follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Bluesky under PeposeD, plus visit davidpeppos.com and subscribe to PepTalks for updates. Pre-orders and trades for Speed Racer are available through local shops, and there are ongoing space ghost and Captain Planet projects for fans to track.
CREATOR CLUB: David Pepose on SPEED RACER
Q: What can fans expect in terms of Racer X's role and the big reveals?
Racer X is kept in check early on but positioned to re-emerge with a meaningful connection to Speed, culminating in a reveal that ties strands from several arcs. This approach preserves the mystery while ensuring the payoff strengthens Speed and Rex's relationship and the broader race-world mythos.
CREATOR CLUB: David Pepose on SPEED RACER
Q: What went into updating those characters for this new version, like Pops and Spridle and Trixie?
I aimed to preserve the essence while giving each character agency and a clear role in Speed's world. Pops stays as the linchpin, Spridle was reimagined as Speed's hype man with a modern twist, and Trixie becomes a more complex liaison who can balance leadership with personal connection to Speed, creating new dramatic tensions.
CREATOR CLUB: David Pepose on SPEED RACER
Q: My first question, why Speed Racer? Was this something you pitched, or assigned because you're working with Mad Cave?
Mad Cave's outreach and the license opportunity came through a strong relationship with Chas Pangburn and the team. I felt an instinct to pursue it, imagining how to translate the chase-heavy, high-octane energy into a story with strong emotional beats and a Western-influenced take on a manga aesthetic, while honoring the core characters.
YEAR OF THE BAT Part Ten: Zero Year - One Dark Night
Q: Which issue stood out as the best or most cohesive in this set?
The group largely agrees that Detective Comics 25, Action Comics 25, Green Arrow 25, and Batgirl 25 stand out for quality and impact, with Action Comics delivering a standout Young Clark arc and Batgirl delivering strong leadership moments amid the storm.
