  • Good Show But Annoying Teasers

I like the show but getting a 20 min teaser every other episode is just annoying. I’m unsubscribing until there is an ad supported version or there are less previews.

  • Frustrating

538 was always one of my favorite podcasts and GD politics is very good for the amount of time you can listen. It’s very fond of putting up very short teases and then asking you to pay for full shows. No show with ads is available for those of us who can’t afford a subscription. I went from listening to every episode to now seriously considering unfollowing.

Whoops. We almost started to care about young men. Glad Galen was able to jump in and help put a stop to that.

  • An upgrade!

Like many others, I was very sad about 538 shutting down. GD Politics has been a welcome continuation of the 538 podcast, but even better now that Galen is on his own. I think the show has benefited from more creative freedom, variety, and being able to hear Galen’s point of view more front and center. Galen was always an excellent host but this podcast has showed that he’s also an excellent analyst and commentator as well. Thanks Galen!

  • I thought it was over…

…but it’s not! I was wondering what went on with the Texas primaries and had Galen’s voice in my head narrating what happened and, here we are! Thanks for keeping this going yall!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Dollar’s Strange, Fragile Power
Q: Can I actually step in for just a second and ask maybe more of a political question?
Brendan explains that the push for more political oversight of the Fed, especially of swap lines, is driven by concerns among Congress and Treasury about maintaining the dollar's stability and political accountability.
How Prediction Markets Made The World A Casino
Q: What probability would you give AOC running for president in 2028?
Galen proposed 75 percent, but Jacob countered that it could be closer to 50-50, highlighting how personal assessment and market sentiment can diverge on a single political outcome.
A Year Of Carney In The Age Of Trump
Q: How strong is Carney's majority and how might that affect governance going forward?
The majority is still thin (174 MPs including Carney with a 172 seat threshold), which means the government must keep all members in line to pass legislation, making the whips' role crucial and leaving room for defections even within a majority.
A Year Of Carney In The Age Of Trump
Q: What has the past year of Carney's premiership looked like and what issues has he tackled?
The guests describe a year of navigating a linked Canada-U.S. relationship, pursuing diversified trade deals, bringing MPs from across the aisle into the governing coalition, and managing a cost of living crisis while keeping a broad political tent intact.
Hot Politicians, Deaths In Office, And The Nebraska Senate Race
Q: Can Katie Porter win the California governor's race in 2026 if she makes it through the primary?
If Porter advances from the primary, she could win in a political environment that is unfriendly to Republicans, but her chances depend on primary outcomes and the strength of the opposing candidate.
