France took home the trophy, but we all know who really won the World Cup: Vladimir Putin (who somehow ended up with the only umbrella in Moscow). In their Season 2 adieu, David, Tony, and Kanishk share their top moments from one of the most memorabl... more
All right… maybe we jinxed it. But now that he’s ripped off the Band-Aid, David’s ready to take a hard look at England’s last game (and anyway, his money is on France). Misery loves company, so he calls up journalist Marcela Mora y Araujo to talk abo... more
England is divided, but in the midst of political upheaval at home comes a moment of destiny on the pitch. David’s a mess, Kanishk Tharoor is back to try and jinx England, and Tony’s Skyping in from a car in South Africa to wind them both up. Plus IK... more

I'd love if this pod were to get revived, but unfortunately the feed has been dormant since the 2018 world cup. David Goldblatt is THE authority on where football and politics/social issues collide.
For a German fan the 2018 World Cup was a drag. Game of Our Lives brought the joy back!
This was by far my favorite podcast to listen to during World Cup 2018. The mixture of politics and social commentary, especially given the turmoil our world is in was very welcome. I also appreciated that David's guests were largely people of color and women from all over the world; voices we don't often hear in journalism. Finally, I credit GoOL for introducing me to a superb, politlcally conscious band, Bang Data, who I've been listening to constantly of late.
Goldblatt and his diverse panel of guests talk football, politics and culture in a way that is inviting for the hard core fan and newbie alike. Worth your time.
I enjoy the geopolitical angle in this podcast. Smart and engaging.
