  • Informative and inspiring

What a delight to discover this podcast right at the start of the year. It put wind in the sails of my internal solar-powered yacht, and gave me the inspiration I needed to start dreaming about a more sustainable year ahead. My only gripe is that it wasn’t long enough - another series please!

WASTE. Talking rubbish
Q: OK, Anthony, here's a question for you. Why is recycling so complicated?
Anthony Buckan explains that recycling is technically straightforward in concept—collect materials, ship them to facilities, sort into streams, and reprocess—but in practice it becomes complicated due to global supply chains, varying local infrastructure, differing material properties, and the regulatory landscape.
CARBON. We need to talk about carbon
Q: What does decarbonization really mean in practical terms for businesses?
The guest explains that decarbonization involves measuring emissions, reducing energy use, improving efficiency, and transitioning to renewable energy while considering co-benefits like cost savings and health.
CARBON. We need to talk about carbon
Q: Can you give us a quick carbon lesson, first of all?
Angela explains that carbon is a shorthand for carbon dioxide, the primary greenhouse gas, and that understanding this helps frame why emissions matter and how reductions can be approached.
Food, Farming & Ploughing through the BS
Q: Ed, what is a big challenge that is urgent in your world today?
The central challenge is making people understand that every consumer good has an agricultural underpinning, and translating awareness into action requires policy that incentivizes farmers and makes sustainable options affordable and visible to shoppers.
