Matt’s podcast is an incredible deep dive into various components and aspects of WW1. Specifically, his delivery and preparation are refreshing and insightful. Love this podcast!
There are a number of quality Great War podcasts & “Footsteps of the Fallen” certainly rates among the very best. Matt covers a wide array of topics but always emphasizes the role of the individual soldier & the effects the conflict had on the person. Top flight podcast, well worth a listen & a follow.
As someone whose knowledge of the Great War was largely based on growing up watching Blackadder Goes Forth, this podcast has been a real eye-opener and I’m so glad I discovered it by chance. Matt is an excellent host and his considered, thoughtful style really helps bring the topic, which is at times grim, to life in an accessible but engaging fashion. Not to mention, he’s been very helpful in tracing family history during the conflict. A great collection of badges too!
I found this podcast as I am looking to understand the First World War. Matt does such a great job of not only talking about the facts of the many (large and small) battles, but also bringing to light the people who fought there. I hope you find it as informative and respectful as I do. Well done Mr Dixon and thank you!
Having listened to every episode since this podcast began it has become an essential part of my listening week. Matt comes across as a thoughtful, caring host, and always adds interesting details to every subject, however previously well-known. Keep up the good work Matt!
