We dig into why women are still fighting for recognition in the sneaker world 30 years after the Freestyle dropped. Hosted by Scottie Beam. From Reebok Classic, produced in partnership with Gi... more

Women have embraced sneaker culture, but it’s still largely a man’s world. Since the Freestyle’s release in 1982, sneaker offerings for female sneakerheads have been thin. Women are still an afterthought in the sneaker industry. There are few exclusi... more
This is the Reebok Freestyle “origin story.” How the first athletic shoe made specifically for women was created in 1982. The sneaker was born out of aerobics, and taken from the gym to the streets, and even onto red carpets. We dive into how the sho... more

As a black woman in the early stages of breaking into the sneaker and streetwear industry, this podcast was everything I needed and more! Big fan of fellow sneaker head Scottie Beam also...she did great!! I just wish there were more episodes. Maybe another segment is in the works????🙏🏾
I’m a big Gimlet podcast listener and will try each podcast that comes out. I’m enjoying this one, and as someone who is old enough to have purchased and worn the Freestyle in the 80’s (and *gasp* do aerobics) I loved them! Thanks for the perspectives given a voice in this podcast and Scottie Beam - I look forward to hearing more 😊
I love this so much. So much.
I enjoy listening to this show. It brings a lot of my interest together from sneakers to hip hop to fashion to music. In addition, it allows me as guy to search and learn about new and invaded women through social media, art, radio, and etc.
I am not a sneaker head but have been TOTALLY frustrated by the painfully limited colors and style choices available in women’s sneakers. Great reporting!
Extend this podcast! And I know that it’s sponsored by Reebok, but let her talk about other brands!!
Simply put — This needs to continue beyond the 3 episodes. Period.
Great podcast about a big problem in sneaker culture. Hope to hear more
Scottie Beam has such a great voice to deliver this! You can hear her passion for sneakers in this podcast.
Not a big sneaker head, but I listened because you don’t put out garbage. I was not disappointed! I loved the production, level of research, and information that was given. Well done! Can’t wait to hear more from you...you how about a Netflix series...we love you for real!
I’m not a sneaker head, and have probably owned 4 pairs in my life! But the dialogue is excellent, and I’m learning so much. DEFINITELY recommend to anybody who just likes to learn!
I’m not even a sneaker head but this podcast was amazing! Love how this is giving a platform for women to share their voices!!!!!!
Great podcast, only wish there were more episodes. It’s great to hear from women in the industry that are trying to make a change. It’s such a pain to be a woman and to love sneakers that are not pink, glitter covered or metallic, also women do love hi tops not just lo tops
As a woc that has been waiting for something like this, I was not disappointed!!! This podcast was informative, concise and relatable. Scottiebeam was an AMAZING host and it was so bomb to see a black woman at the face of this podcast talking sneakers. We’re often over shadowed in the conversation and representation matters!!
Fun, and interesting stuff!
