  • Best fishing show out there!!!

Does a great job getting a ton of interesting gas on the show covering different bodies of water that you’ve never heard of !! I live in north of Houston, Texas but this show makes me want to move to the DMV area to try all those smallmouth rivers!! This is also one of the few shows that will routinely have fish biologist on and interesting conversation!

Early Spring New River Smallmouth Fishing Secrets Revealed
Q: What gear setups do you prefer for different baits like jig vs Nedrig vs tube?
Jigs are used with heavier rods for rocky bottom; Nedrigs use lighter setups; tubes are fished on slightly heavier gear for bottom sensitivity; glide baits are a newer consideration with dedicated rod/reel upgrades.
Early Spring New River Smallmouth Fishing Secrets Revealed
Q: When do you start topwater, and what temps are you targeting for topwater vs. other presentations?
Topwater starts around mid-50s (often late May), with early topwater like poppers at around 52-53 degrees; as temps rise toward 60s, buzzbaits and other surface lures become more effective.
463 | Shenandoah River Musky Fishing with Musky Hunters Custom Baits
Q: How important do you think the musky is to blame for smallmouth issues compared to flathead or blue catfish?
They primarily eat suckers and fall fish rather than smallmouth bass, and flooding during the spawn is more detrimental to smallmouth populations than musky predation.
463 | Shenandoah River Musky Fishing with Musky Hunters Custom Baits
Q: If people want to get into Musky Fishing, what is a good starter setup so they could throw one of your baits?
If you're fishing from a boat, an eight and a half to nine foot heavy action rod with a fast tip is recommended, along with 65-pound braid and an 18-inch fluorocarbon leader.
463 | Shenandoah River Musky Fishing with Musky Hunters Custom Baits
Q: What got you into bait making and Musky fishing in general?
I fished most of my life and Musky is one fish that I've never really tried to target early in my life. Watching YouTube helped me figure out a game plan to start fishing for them.
