Episode 181: Pride of the Yankees (1942) and Field of Dreams (1989) by Finleys on Films
The Finleys finally talk about one of the most and one of the least talked about great films, Citizen Kane and Mank.
Evan joins the boys to discuss just about everything, seems like, before they finally settle down to talking about this strange film from 1975.
The Finleys talk about a couple of film club choices Tom made recently before Joe tortured him with some Ari Aster movies.

Imagine above-intelligent and honest dialogue between two middle-aged cousins about classic film, using language as if they were part of the gang of kids from “South Park” (with curse words left uncensored). That’s this podcast—checks all my boxes for a top-notch great show about classic cinema and artists.
Finley’s on Film is one of my top three podcasts!!! The two of you are funny and interesting in your film reviews. For the past few months I have developed a voracious appetite for classic film and your podcast gives me ideas of what to watch. Thank you so so much and never stop putting out content. Remember, a girl in Tennessee is waiting for that next episode!
Sincerely,
Lisa
Joe and Tom are funny, knowledgeable, congenial, and as corny as it sounds, I felt like I knew them after one of two episodes. Their conversations are sharp and goofy and they are able to balance the two pretty well - I definitely LOL several times within each episode (“ohhhh, that’s good ________”). I also like the concept of focusing on an actor across a few movies - they know their stuff and it’s enjoyable to hear their different takes on movies, especially one I haven’t yet seen. Love this show. It’s not only because I have spent so many hours of my 68 years watching and discussing film (although they do a great job of that also) but also because their jibes and “adult language” have a refreshing energy and fun about them. A unique listening experience. I enjoy their long tirades about family and other subjects as much as I do their take on individual actors and on thematic content. Really great stuff!
These guys love to talk about film and it shows. The conversations are witty and informative. But mostly I like hearing their sad stories of their childhoods growing up in Fresno. More of that please!
