  • Great idea, doesn’t need AI

I was really interested in the premise but have no desire to listen to AI generated content. I do appreciate that it is disclosed early, but still disappointing and a waste of a great idea for a show.

  • A Fav

Very interesting because it gives the listener a peek into the process of how a film gets made OR in these cases does not get made!

  • Infectious fun, smart, inspiring

Such a pleasure to listen and so much fun to get to hear the insights of the filmmakers and industry players with their hair down, pressure off , dishing about how it all went down.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

DJ Natalie's Neighborhood with Natalie Weiss
Q: What was the最低 viable budget to get the pilot off the ground, given the DIY, creator-driven approach?
The hosts and Natalie discuss a floor of around half a million dollars as an upfront advance for creator and showrunner roles, with additional considerations for puppet design, live-action versus animation mix, music rights, and location needs, aiming to position the project for premium creator-driven opportunities rather than a bargain-basement kids show.
DJ Natalie's Neighborhood with Natalie Weiss
Q: Can you summarize the pilot concept in a sentence or two?
DJ Natalie's Neighborhood centers on Natalie, a real-life DJ and educator, running a music-based kids' program from a magical Brooklyn apartment where puppet roommates help teach through songs, ASL, and adventures that translate everyday problems into creativity and collaboration.
I Need Love: LL Cool J & Kool Moe Dee Love Story
Q: Michael, what's non-negotiable when pitching with real names and music rights on the line?
The real historical capsule and emotional core are non-negotiable for me, so I'd resist changing the core facts or the energy of the public rivalry; the aim is to present it as a fairy tale with the heat of real history, not为了fictionalization that erases the essence.
How to Tame a Fox with Heidi Ewing
Q: What's the approach to casting and visuals for a story with talking foxes?
They discuss a mix of real foxes for authenticity and animatronic/VFX for magical realism moments, with an emphasis on a warmer color palette and atmospheric, historically grounded visuals rather than a stark, overly grim aesthetic.
How to Tame a Fox with Heidi Ewing
Q: Tell us about How to Tame a Fox and how it started.
Heidi explains optioning the book during COVID, outlining the story of Lyudmila and Dmitri in 1950s Russia, and developing it into a pilot before realizing it was a long shot to greenlight, yet the project remains evergreen with potential attachments.
