The Cine-Files and Mark Ramsey dive deep and share personal perspectives about Quentin Tarantino, Pulp Fiction, and public media.
Despite having the time of his life directing his magnum opus, the pressure consumes Tarantino. Would it be great…or awful?
Who would be cast in Pulp Fiction? “If I can’t cast Travolta, I’m not making the movie,” Tarantino said.
Out of work and broke, Tarantino spent his time writing. And writing. Rejected for being “too vile!” or “too vulgar!” he finally got his big break – Reservoir Dogs. All before the age of 30.

This is that.
Keep this series going!!!!! More! More! Subsequent films? Other directors? Excellent work.
I totally admire QT’s love and unbridled enthusiasm for and immersion in movies. It is a gift for us. Big however, as hard as I try I do not GET his movies. But I think Tom Jefferson or one of those guys said I will defend to the death his right to make them.
BTW, sorry for burying the lead but I have listened to way too many different podcasts, and this is the most creative and innovative use of this medium I have experienced.
I just binged listen to the entire thing and wish it were longer. KCRW, please, please, please produce more shows like this.
Fade In is edible ear popcorn for cinephiles and movie lovers. Can’t wait for the next one Mark Ramsey and KCRW.
