  • Thanks!

Hi Lee. Thank you for this podcast. I live in Seattle now, but I was born in Marblehead and grew up in Brookline and Newton. My dad was a big time lawyer in the 80s and we lived on Hammond St. by BC. I also went to high school with Dan Dain. I’ve always carried Boston in my heart, though my family no longer lives there, and your podcast has not only taught me all I never learned while I was a native but also helps me feel close to home. Patriots vs. Seahawks… Gotta route for the Pats 😊

  • Should be titled “Explain Philadelphia to Me”

I’m confused - who is the audience for this pod? Boston people? Philadelphia people? If you’re going to opine on Philly, please keep it brief and find ways to make a meaningful connection to Boston.

Sure. There's a whole handful of coffee shops or cafes early in JP... We could go to any one of those to start out... We're just walking a lot. That's me.

Q: What were the advantages to joining Boston? Why was this a popular thing?

Q: Can you please introduce yourself and give a brief rundown on what you do and why you're qualified to speak on Boston culture and on this topic, Jamaica Plain in particular?
My name is Gretchen Grozier. I technically work for the city of Boston in the IT department. I have lived in Boston since 1992, came as a grad student, have lived in Jamaica Plain since 1999, have been part of the Jamaica Plain Historical Society as an officer since 2001, 2002, somewhere around there, have been the president since 2007, so 20 years. I can definitely speak to what it's like to live in Jamaica Plain, and I am very conversant with the history of Jamaica Plain as well.
