  • If you love softball, listen here...

Most reliable and informative softball podcast anywhere. Coach Don and Tory are pros in this game and they leave no stones unturned. Whether you are new or experienced to the game they are great at explaining every concept they talk about that is both thoughtful and insightful in a way that is understandable to anyone listening. A lot of informational podcast come off as too technical and is boring. Everything fastpitch is done well and is entertaining to listen to while you learn. They also con... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Pitcher Warm-Up Time / Podcaster Interview / It's Not "D1 or Bust" / Have a Practice Plan
Q: How long should a pitcher warm up?
The hosts discuss that warm-up duration varies by the individual pitcher and the day's schedule, but emphasize that a pitcher is truly warm when all pitches they plan to throw are likely to go where intended, not just when their arm is warm; they also advocate for clear communication and a planned schedule to avoid overuse.
Shifts in Division 1 Recruiting / "Non-Parent Coaches" / Rotating Players Every Inning / Picking a Bat
Q: With the new rules regarding transfers, extra years of eligibility for JUCOs, NIL money, etc., do we see Division I schools moving away from signing freshmen in favor of more proven players through the portal?
Yes, elite programs are likely to blend portal transfers with top high school players, prioritizing proven college performers alongside standout high school talents, which could reduce opportunities for graduating seniors at big programs but won't eliminate them entirely.
More on field coaches in college / Sports Illustrated Article / Sara Mosley Interview / Batting Practice
Q: Sara, how did you handle the pressures and challenges of your college career?
I had to overcome injuries and my dad's passing, which shaped my perspective on competing and finding joy in the game.
More on field coaches in college / Sports Illustrated Article / Sara Mosley Interview / Batting Practice
Q: What are your thoughts on the new NCAA rule allowing more staff members to provide coaching?
There's a push to allow those coaches to have a much bigger role and be allowed to do more than they were recently.
Coaching a skill you are weak at / Skipping Practices for Games / Backing Up is not optional
Q: What can we do to get them to understand that the idea of being there already is the reason that we try to practice these things so that these mistakes when they happen don't hurt our team so badly?
Explain their roles clearly and hold them accountable for not being in the right positions during practice and games.
