Completely uncool to be announcing “here’s how they did it in the book.” More than once, and on different topics. I’m out.
Might be better if the hosts just go scene by scene through the episode. Why jump around?? I fast forward through the rambling which can be a lot. I don’t need to listen to 10 minutes (not 10 but felt like it) about the history and present day use of feminine hygiene products vs what they use on the show. Guys it’s a show, not real people. Wow.
I enjoy their Gilded Age Podcast and decided to try their coverage of A Handmaid’s Tale. Oof. Your introduction said you weren’t going to be political. Uh, really? Have you taken a look around the USA lately? How can you cover a dystopian novel/TV show without talking about how the show is mirroring our own reality? Truly bizarre. Tell me, who would be offended by you criticizing the current political climate? Would it be the people who would agree with the creeping authoritarianism that is happ... more
I have been catching up on the handmaid’s tale over the last month. I find the show interesting, well done, and extremely terrifying. Once I got into the show, I started to look for a complementary podcast. I tried a few, but stop looking once I found Paul and Caroline. I really enjoy listening to them review and discuss each episode. They provide great insight into what I had just watched. I strongly encourage you to give them a try.
Like the title indicates sometimes these two are spot on and sometimes I wonder if they are watching, but are distracted. For example, in this latest episode, they refer to Jaden as dead, even though he did not die in the episode, and start out by referring to June’s dream as a memory that is speeding up so she must be losing memory of Hanna. They make comments that make me question if they read the books as well especially with their predictions.

Two hosts—Paul and Caroline—dissect and contextualize adaptations and storylines from The Handmaid's Tale universe, with a focus on season arcs, character development, and the broader political vulnerabilities of Gilead. Across episodes, they weigh narrative choices, explore themes like power, resistance, and mercy, and repeatedly connect on-the-ground plot points to larger societal implications. A notable pattern is their balance of tension-filled analysis with moments of lighter commentary, making deep dives accessible for fans and newcomers alike. Their conversations often center on June, Luke, Serena Joy, Moira, and Rita, while also evaluating the storytelling craft (flashbacks, pacing, and dramatic reveals) that drive the series' impac... more
