I Love the idea of having a footballer talking about strategies of games, training, setting new goals. I also liked the comparaison of vertical and seing the field / adapting to the "terrain". Thank you so much ! 🌲

  • Unbearable narcissistic blabbering

I’ve tried so so many times to find value in Horst, however, I just can’t take him. An hr podcast will contain about 2 minutes of substance. The rest is just Horst endlessly talking about the basic point over and over again.

  • Excellent

Very good podcast about climbing and training. It has helped me on many long car journeys and I always discover something new.

As an older climber and boulderer, I can also put many of his tips into practice. Thank you very much!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#118 - Wes Schweitzer - Training to Boulder V10 (Pro Football Player Turned Climber!)
Q: What are your goals as you transition to climbing?
I want to be the heaviest person to climb V10 and the same thing with football, people didn't think I was going to be able to start or make an NFL and I played nine, you know?
#118 - Wes Schweitzer - Training to Boulder V10 (Pro Football Player Turned Climber!)
Q: How did you first get introduced to climbing?
I met a trainer outside of the NFL and he's like, yeah, you just got to get on a climbing wall, pull on some different poles, different shapes, slope or stuff like that. I was pain free within five minutes.
#109: Alex Megos Interviews Eric Hörst (What?!)
Q: What do you think about ketogenic diet? Is that something that's possible for climbing?
A ketogenic diet might have some health benefits but it's not recommended for climbers due to the need for carbohydrates for the anaerobic energy system.
#97: EXPERT: Grip Better! All About Chalk Use and Skin Performance
Q: How about liquid chalk? What's the utility to that?
Liquid chalk helps create a base layer, leading to better performance over the session and less overall chalk usage.
#97: EXPERT: Grip Better! All About Chalk Use and Skin Performance
Q: What kind of the bottom line is each person has to find out through experience and experimentation where their sweet spot is?
People need to identify optimal conditions for their unique skin type and the surrounding environment for best climbing performance.
