  • Nursing 003 intubation

Great info I think it would be Beneficial to discuss the use of RSI kits in intubation specifically from nursing perspective, my new nurses don’t use them like they should but it’s a lack of education I think because they don’t understand how useful a kit can be with proper education

  • Sounds good?

I’m not a doctor, but I’ve been watching a lot of episodes of the Pitt and one of the dr’s mentions an EM podcast he’s learning things on. So I thought I would listen, I didn’t know what anyone was saying at all, but it sounded correct. So kudos.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EMCrit 425 - Sort of the Airway Triage Debate
Q: Why do you think the method discussed is outdated, and how should airway assessment be reframed?
Hans argues that airway assessment should move beyond static scores to a six-domain model (human factors, experience, location, anatomy/patient factors, equipment, time pressure) and that a global, proactive risk-triage approach is more applicable to resuscitative airway practice than traditional predictive scores.
EMCrit 425 - Sort of the Airway Triage Debate
Q: All right, so tell the audience who you are and what you do, Hans.
Hans Heiting explains he is an anesthesiologist based in the Netherlands with 25 years of experience, who also works as a medical retrieval specialist and has worked in Melbourne and the Caribbean, focusing on airway management.
EMCrit 422 - SSC 2026 Guidelines: The good, the Bad, and the UGLY
Q: Why do guidelines translate into performance metrics, and how is certainty of evidence handled?
The guest discusses the transparency of including certainty of evidence and strength of recommendations, and notes that while guidelines aim to guide care, translating them into CMS measures can be controversial due to varying levels of evidence.
EMCrit 422 - SSC 2026 Guidelines: The good, the Bad, and the UGLY
Q: Who are you and what do you do?
Haley Prescott explains she is a Pulmonary Critical Care Physician at the University of Michigan and serves as the co-chair and lead author of the 2026 Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines for Adults.
EMCrit Wee - An Airway Discussion with Jonathan St George of the Protected Airway Collaborative
Q: What was the first topic that popped into your mind to talk about in 2026?
The first topic was the DAS airway guidelines and the RSI trial as two pillars of practice-changing information; overall, the view is that guidelines should inform rather than constrain, and practitioners should shape their curriculum around practical execution and patient safety.
