Learning in residency is an attempt to maximize time- this show has left me disappointed to get so many adds to subscribe and pay for more content. One episode even left listeners without the full show in an attempt to get people to pay and access the members only content. Im sure the content is helpful but will keep looking for more accessible content with less adds.

  • Nursing 003 intubation

Great info I think it would be Beneficial to discuss the use of RSI kits in intubation specifically from nursing perspective, my new nurses don’t use them like they should but it’s a lack of education I think because they don’t understand how useful a kit can be with proper education

  • Phenomenal 🇺🇸🇬🇧

I listen to many medical podcasts as part of my studies, however, this one is a cut about the rest. Excellent content, delivered in a clear and easy to follow format. Great for those long drives to and from university. Thank you team!

  • Sounds good?

I’m not a doctor, but I’ve been watching a lot of episodes of the Pitt and one of the dr’s mentions an EM podcast he’s learning things on. So I thought I would listen, I didn’t know what anyone was saying at all, but it sounded correct. So kudos.

EMCrit 430 - Members Q&A Episode 004
Q: We actually featured one of your papers on one of those episodes, but I want to hear where you stand in 2026. You have a patient with undifferentiated shock, will even give you hypotension, and you're evaluating them at the bedside. What are you actually doing versus what we pretend we do when we're giving echo workshops and such?
The guest emphasizes using a set of complementary mental models as practical heuristics. Rather than choosing one single approach, they adapt by shifting through gear-based frameworks (pipes-pump-tank, three pressures, four interfaces) to map out forward flow, identify bottlenecks, and tailor interventions to the patient's current phase and complexity. The core is to apply iterative hypothesis testing, combine data from exam, ultrasound, and hemodynamics, and progressively escalate or adjust treatment as needed, rather than sticking to a single rigid protocol.
1:1 Nursing 009 - Q&A Episode 2
Q: When you have a patient on both norepinephrine and epinephrine, which drug do you titrate first when MAP falls?
The nod is to titrate norepinephrine first to support MAP, then reassess other indices like tachycardia, pulse pressure, and skin temperature to guide inotrope adjustments.
EMCrit 426 - Dave Carr - Tips & Tricks from his Career in Emergency Medicine
Q: How does compassion differ from empathy, and why is action essential?
Compassion is an emotional response plus taking action to reduce suffering, whereas empathy is sensing and understanding pain; action engages reward centers in the brain and leads to measurable improvements in care and provider well-being.
EMCrit 426 - Dave Carr - Tips & Tricks from his Career in Emergency Medicine
Q: Who are you and what do you do?
Steve Trisak is the chair of the Department of Medicine at Cooper University Health Care, a practicing intensivist, a research nerd, and an author focused on compassion, human connection, and hope.
EMCrit Wee - Dr. Glacoumflecken on the Amazing Eugene EM Physicians Triumph over Corporate Medicine
Q: Who are you and what do you do?
Will Flannery explains he is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who creates comedic, educational medical content online, and that he became involved to support the Eugene physicians and illuminate the broader issues with corporate medicine.
