They say there can be only one, but there’s two of us discussing the original Highlanders physical and special effects.
In the second of our supplemental episodes, it’s the turn of comic book artist Boo Cook to choose his favourite ever special effects sequence. And what a corker it is!
We take our first look at First Men In The Moon starting, appropriately enough, with the launch sequence.
I’m amazed to discover that I’ve never reviewed this podcast despite having listened to it for years. I came to it off the back of Eric’s Blake’s 7 In Character podcast and have always found it as informative and entertaining as all of his other podcasts. Whereas the ’in character’ podcasts are co-presented with Eric’s great friend Ian, this is his stand alone vehicle where he has a different presenter in each episode, or sometimes even on his own. Definitely worth subscribing to.
lovely little companion piece, cheers
I believe the male vampire who got impaled on the steps toward the end of Lifeforce was actor Bill Malin (billed as 2nd Vampire). He does not have a vast number of credits, but I remember him being interviewed on the Reeltime Pictures documentary - I Was A Doctor Who Monster, recalling his time as a Cyberman on Doctor Who - Silver Nemesis.
Excellent podcast and so pleased to hear about the legendary Lifeforce?!!
If you enjoy intelligent and friendly conversation that doesn’t shy away from critical analysis of beloved movies and tv shows, this might be for you. I’m just wishing for Eric and a friend to give Island of Terror the Effectively Speaking treatment someday...
