Heralded by the Washington Post as being “ostensibly about ‘Survivor’”, in this podcast, veteran fan Sean Ross and quarantine newbie Evan Ross Katz take a very gay deep dive into all things SURVIVOR. With a uniquely queer lens, Drop Your Buffs takes a retrospective look at the greatest seasons, players and iconic moments from the reality show that started it all. Plus, we go straight to ... more

If we were to play a game of Star or Starless with the hosts, Kevin would be a supernova 💫
Anything less than 5 stars is a hate crime, honestly.
What an OOOOOF. Used to really enjoy this, despite the size of Evan’s shiny head. It’s called “Drop Your Buffs” but they don’t cover “Survivor”, even though I guess they still do behind the paywall. They hate it…but clearly not THAT much. Do they not understand that their very specific lane was to provide hate-watch coverage? Like that’s why we came here. So we get “Traitors UK” (can’t watch—don’t care) & “Heated Rivalry” (because there’s not already enough coverage of that trifle). I’d l... more
Thoughtful and fun coverage of Heated Rivalry, and of Survivor too ig even if we love-hate the New Era :)
I wanted to like this podcast, and I kept giving it second, third, tenth chances. Finally, a gay podcast about my favorite shows with hosts that are unfiltered. But to hear any interesting takes they may have, you have to trudge through a swamp of negativity of their own making. Thoughtful criticism is great but so often these podcasts feel like complaining just to have something to say.

A sharply candid, queer-leaning deep dive into reality TV and Survivor, with two longtime fans unpacking favorite seasons, players, and iconic moments. The show blends enthusiastic fandom with pointed analysis, interview-style conversations with notable contestants, and cross‑show commentary on The Traitors, The White Lotus, and And Just Like That. Its distinctive voice comes from frank banter, unapologetic takes, and a community vibe that rewards insider-like storytelling and nerdy, character-driven discussions. Noteworthy is the mix of nostalgia for classic eras with fresh, contemporary perspectives, plus a Patreon‑aftershow component that teases spicier takes and extended chats.
