Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 308:Two rooms, one great vibe: Café Mulberry and The Mulberry. Partner Justin Sievers on what it takes.
Q: What's one thing you never expected to happen in this venture?
Having the right people in place and delegating effectively; trying to do everything yourself is unsustainable in New York, and building a capable team is essential to scaling and maintaining quality.
Episode 308:Two rooms, one great vibe: Café Mulberry and The Mulberry. Partner Justin Sievers on what it takes.
Q: What was the biggest surprise or neon signpost in your journey to opening these spots?
The realization that the project had to be elevated beyond a casual bar; it needed a strong team, funding, and a clear vision to deliver a nightlife vibe that still honored New York's history and the quality standards of the NOHO Hospitality group.
Episode 308:Two rooms, one great vibe: Café Mulberry and The Mulberry. Partner Justin Sievers on what it takes.
Q: What led you to open Café Mulberry and The Mulberry together and how did the idea for two spaces come about?
The bar came first; we saw an opportunity with a separate street-level bar and a downstairs dining room, largely driven by a need for a daytime espresso/lunch space that would complement the nightlife downstairs, and a broader plan to create two cohesive venues that felt like old New York with modern execution.
Episode 306- L’erta…If Chianti had a Grand Cru village, it might be Radda. Real deal Chianti.
Q: So how did Elisa come to be the winemaker at L'Herta di Radda?
Elisa explains that she became involved through marriage, followed by formal studies and professional experience at several estates, which led to her taking on a leadership role in winemaking while emphasizing teamwork with her husband.
REDUX: Jared Deery guarded an NBA star and stared down an armed mobster skipping out on a check—so opening a gallery and building an art community was a cinch.
Q: What does it mean when you say your painting style explores the idea of memory and sense perception?
I paint a lot of still lifes and flowers, which are linked to my childhood and carry personal memories.
