Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A Look Behind the Lore-Mr. Bistro
Q: What was your favorite faction or lore project to write for in Summoner Wars, and why?
Designing the Filth and the Sand Goblins were especially enjoyable due to their unique personalities and the playful-to-dark tonal balance they offered, which also provided rich storytelling hooks for the lore.
A Look Behind the Lore-Mr. Bistro
Q: What's your official job title at Plaid Hat, and do you have a fun nickname you go by?
My official title is Director of Marketing, and I use Mr. Bistro as my nickname because it's memorable and connected to my early gaming community; it also helps separate online persona from real identity.
The Filth Faction Overview-AstroCosmos
Q: How do events fit into the Filth strategy, and which events should be prioritized or avoided?
Events are generally situational for the Filth and often better used to supplement tempo rather than shore up raw power. Shield of the Hopeful protects cultists, Horrify can lock down positions, and Zeal provides a timely boost for surprise plays. The key is holding Volatile and using events to secure threats or catch the opponent off guard rather than discarding them at random.
The Filth Faction Overview-AstroCosmos
Q: Astro, why don't you start us off by giving some key tips for someone starting to play the Filth, and what tips would you give them?
Start with a tempo-focused approach, using zero-cost commons like cultists to establish early pressure, while mutating them into more powerful threats. Keep your opponent guessing by discarding strategically to control what they can anticipate, and aim to exploit Volatile Flesh to accelerate mutations and threaten the enemy summoner. Access to Abomination comes with a built-in timing window—build toward 7 magic, then unleash with mutational support from Beastial and Encanter to maximize its strength and reach.
Cave Goblin Faction Overview-Redhawk
Q: Where do you think the Cave Goblins line up ranking-wise among the factions?
They're probably in the bottom half, power-wise, but can outperform stronger factions under the right conditions.
