A podcast about all manner of hobby games by Mike Walker and Mark Bigney. Bad games don't go easy on you, so we don't go easy on them. I like podcasts about board games, and this podcast gives a good overview about different games. The only problem with this podcast is the hosts. They are condescending and elitist. Listen when you need a board game hit, but there better board game podcasts available.
The hosts seem to know know their stuff, but there’s a seriousness to the way they discuss games that makes the whole thing feel a bit joyless. They often sound like they’re trying too hard to sound academic, and you get the sense they’d be exhausting to actually play with. At times, their critiques drift from insightful to condescending — the kind of commentary that might bruise a designer more than it helps a listener. Overall, I find this podcast exhausting to listen to.
Careless and dismissive commentary presented as fact.
If you want a podcast that respects your time and your intelligence, So Very Wrong About Games is one of the best out there. It’s smart, skeptical, and seriously entertaining—a must-listen for anyone who loves board games but hates the hype.
