  • New EV promotions are needed

Let’s not try to change the winners. What will it take for the F150 Lightening to hit the ICE price point? Same for the Civic and Corolla. Surely there must be a portion of management that knows they have to bite the bullet now if they want to be around in 5 years.

38: Ford's Alan Clarke on Building an Affordable, Next-Gen EV Pickup Truck
Q: What keeps the Ford team motivated given market turbulence and EV misinformation?
A mature cost model, long-term leadership commitment, and hands-on testing (crash tests and real-world validation) give confidence that the product can be profitable and compelling without relying on incentives.
38: Ford's Alan Clarke on Building an Affordable, Next-Gen EV Pickup Truck
Q: What are the benefits and risks of sourcing or building battery technology onshore in Michigan rather than using off-the-shelf cells?
Onshore development enables faster iteration, tighter integration with the vehicle, better understanding of cost drivers, and the potential for quicker, more reliable updates and scale, though it requires substantial upfront investment and careful thermal and energy management.
32: Electric Era's Bet on Retail EV Charging, with Quincy Lee
Q: How do you approach the challenges of the current EV industry climate for expanding and growing?
We need to ensure a good driver experience to bring in more EV drivers, thereby improving ROI for retailers and creating products that can stand independently of subsidies.
32: Electric Era's Bet on Retail EV Charging, with Quincy Lee
Q: What is appealing to retailers about Electric Era hardware and software compared to other solutions?
The sleek and thin footprint of our charging solution reflects the retailer's brand and ensures high reliability, immersive screen experience, and ease of use, making it compelling for fast charging situations.
32: Electric Era's Bet on Retail EV Charging, with Quincy Lee
Q: Can you summarize what that looks like, both for a retailer who's interested in that system and also the customer who's going to be using that for their EV?
We started a skunkworks program to make EV fast charging even better for drivers, solving issues around reliability, size, and user interaction to ultimately improve functionality for EV drivers.
