This is the best podcast in the world. Maybe it’s the insular bubble I live in but to me they’ve simply never had an incorrect take.

  • Thank you

This show has changed me on a personal level - from the way I think about new topics to how I approach old ideas. I am fundamentally different. It’s even changed the way I watch reality TV!

I came here after reading Yesteryear (which I also enjoyed) and stayed because I love the hosts. Their combination of humor and intelligence gives me permission to be unapologetically smart while still being a human who enjoys trashy TV and 12 year old boy humor. I will not shut up about this show (I’m bord... more

God, this show is SO good. Katie and Caro are masters of their craft — I could listen for hours and hours. The JFK, Skinnypocalypse, and TFP/Amanda Batula episodes? Incredible.

  • I like it

Very fun podcast, nice to have a feminist podcast that’s explicitly anti-capitalist in a concrete way. The bama rush episode shocked me, I’m a white woman but not to that degree, felt like an alien hearing all that. Maybe it’s because I grew up as a nerd in an atheist family, but wow my mother would have slapped me silly for even glancing in the direction of a sorority. It makes sense I don’t find the discussions as transgressive as I anticipated once I understood the backgrounds of the hosts. N... more

The Caro Episode
Q: How do you approach the tension between your public persona and the book's themes?
Caroline argues for separating art from the artist as a default stance, noting that readers bring their own interpretations and that the book's political and social commentary can stand apart from who she is as a person.
The Caro Episode
Q: How did the publishing journey for Yesteryear unfold, especially the auction and foreign rights?
She describes a rapid market reaction after the first pages convinced her agent it would sell, followed by a multi-country auction and decision to turn down an initial preempt offer to pursue potentially higher returns, with a strong emphasis on choosing the right agent and timing.
The Caro Episode
Q: What gives you the right to write Natalie's story the way you did?
Caroline explains that Natalie's voice emerged through a long process of finding what the character needed to say, emphasizing that fiction can explore complex truths about power, gender, and ambition without obligating the author to mirror personal beliefs.
Abortion: Say It With Your Chest
Q: Can you explain to us how Republicans turned abortion into a political issue over the last half century?
The anti-abortion movement was rooted in racism, stemming from the desegregation efforts of the 1970s and the use of abortion as a wedge issue to galvanize a political base.
Abortion: Say It With Your Chest
Q: Any thoughts on the presidential election? Any quick thoughts on the presidential election?
The Washington Post isn't going to endorse, but Diabolical Lies is emphatically endorsing Kamala Harris for president.
