  • Josh Sens En Fuego

The recent Gleneagles and Broomsedge episodes with Josh Sens are excellent.

I could take or leave the rest; the early episodes when they treated the podcast as a true golf travel guide and essentially gave you an itinerary were what got me hooked. I’m the guy who plans the golf trips in my group, so this stuff was invaluable.

Otherwise, I tend to find Simon Holt a bit dry and repetitive. Traditional Scottish lunch at Muirfield—got it.

  • Charming duo

How can you make a podcast that both entertains and teaches you the nuance of both a game and man’s ability to sculpture nature. Both Josh Sens and his co host Simon Holt love the game of golf and have a deep appreciation for the courses that they have played for many years. It’s a refreshing slant on what I consider the my frustrating game in the world.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

76: Rodeo Dunes with Michael Keiser Jr.
Q: What makes Rodeo Dunes different from other Keiser projects?
Keiser highlights the site's choppy, dune-rich ground, the proximity to Denver, and the rapid land discovery process, along with a distinctive routing approach by Bill Coore and later Jimmy Craig to create 18 unique holes across varied wind directions.
75: Trump's plans for the D.C. munis: why now, who's impacted, and what's next?
Q: Can you walk through the history of East Potomac and how it became a focal point in this story?
Alan Bastable explains that East Potomac opened in 1921 as the first DC muni, part of a trio with Rock Creek and Langston, and that the National Links Trust was brought in around 2020 to revive all three with renowned designers involved; the plan shifted dramatically after federal lease terminations and renewed government involvement, setting off a rapid sequence of events.
67: Chef Josh Emett on what makes great golf food
Q: How do you view the overlap between golf and cooking in terms of mindset and routine?
Both require discipline, preparation, and a consistent routine; pre-service kitchen workflow mirrors a golfer's pre-shot routine, and both demand organization and attention to detail.
67: Chef Josh Emett on what makes great golf food
Q: What has changed in New Zealand's food scene since you left as a young chef?
The scene has grown dramatically with better hospitality, professional service, and a push toward excellence, especially with the Michelin framework changing expectations and attracting talent.
59: U.S. Open Champ Michael Campbell
Q: What does golf mean to you now?
Golf was a tool for me to make a difference and positively impact others' lives through the sport.
