I have been looking for a podcast like this with honest conversations about the design industry. I’d love to hear more from Alyssa and her more from her perspective; not going to lie - it’s really hard to keep listening through the massive negativity and ego of Fernando. As a designer with such a seemingly impressive background it would be great to hear him be an advocate for younger designers rather than complain. His attitude in the podcast summarizes all of the things about design that I’d li... more
A lot of really interesting insights, but Fernando is really negative and has a huge ego that I struggle to listen through. I want to hear more from Alyssa - and maybe there could be a rotation of cohosts where we could have more perspectives and experiences. Fernando has his way, but there are definitely successful artists/designers who have different pathways.
This podcast has a ton of great info and important conversations — I’m definitely learning a lot! However, Fernando’s huge ego, which he rarely disguises, makes it hard to listen to sometimes. Alyssa is great though!
At times it’s like a fly on the wall moment, which is what I appreciate most about podcasts. I’m privy to the kinds of conversations taking place at gatherings I’m not invited to. They’re not trying to be everything to everyone so the scope is narrow enough to be of real interest- as opposed to adding to the noise. Audio only means missing out on some of the visuals shown on YouTube but it’s easy to screenshot the audio timestamp and follow up when intrigued enough.
Only three episodes in and I’m hooked.
Design Discord is pure gold. Insightful, honest, and packed with value. The transparency is refreshing, and the conversations are the kind you wish more people were having. It’s so good, it feels like it should cost money. Can’t wait for the next one!
