Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jobs to Be Done Without the Dogma | Wolfram Nagel (TeamViewer)
Q: What are your strategies for pitching the value of doing jobs to be done before, rather than waiting?
Continuously stay in the problem space and integrate insights related to jobs to be done into usability tests to highlight the significance to stakeholders.
Jobs to Be Done Without the Dogma | Wolfram Nagel (TeamViewer)
Q: Are there times when jobs to be done is a good idea and times when it's a bad idea?
Jobs to be done is good in the problem space for understanding pain points and needs. It's often less helpful if the focus is already primarily on solutions.
Pragmatism vs. Rigor: The Researcher’s Balancing Act | Raymond Tiong (Dext)
Q: When do you decide when more rigor is appropriate and when more pragmatism is appropriate?
The decision hinges on stakeholder risk appetite and the importance of the research output; holding a scoping workshop helps align these factors.
Pragmatism vs. Rigor: The Researcher’s Balancing Act | Raymond Tiong (Dext)
Q: How would you define this balance between pragmatism and rigor?
Rigor should align with the project's context; it's about finding 'just enough' research that meets business needs without aiming for perfection.
Beyond the Report | Matt Thomas (Motability Operations)
Q: How can one better socialize research findings in their team?
Challenge yourself to share an insight from recent research during the next stand-up or team meeting, ideally using a customer video or voice.
