  • Amazing book by a new writer

I was really pleased to find this new book by David J Swales. I’m a big fan of Anne Rice and this book appealed to me because of all the history that is woven into the story, as well as the supernatural elements. The book really makes me feel like I know these places.

I now have the paperback which I found on Amazon. Read it over the course of a week and totally loved it. Really looking forward to getting my hands on the second book of the series.

The character Emeshmoon is captivating. Her ... more

  • A must-read for horror fans!

D J Swales breaks the atypical Gothic horror mould with this standout piece of literature. As a true horror fiction buff, I was truly captivated by his creative writing style and ability to draw you into the terror of the world he has created.

Narrative such as, “[the entity was] a foetid smear of eternal sentient misery...” made me shudder with delight and anticipation as to what was in store for the protagonist, seemingly hunted by this creature.

The pacing that the author reads at is fanta... more

  • Brilliant Writing!

Such brilliant writing with a great use of deeply descriptive language. One is taken into the very dark mystical world that is always around us, watching and waiting, a world from before the time of our Celt and Druid ancestors.

DJ Swales’ writing is so very well suited to the ancient art of oral storytelling but equally satisfying for page turning on the daily commute. I much look forward to the further revelation of his witches!

  • Dark, rich and cultivated

FINALLY. It’s out. Read by the author himself. Supported by lengthy researches and not just threw books but actual travelling and totally immersing himself deep into it by living in these culturally rich and ancients civilizations all over the world. I just love his deep low pitch voice. Exactly what one need to bring the dark spirit into our world. WARNING: do NOT shut the lights...you never know for sure.

  • Seriously Scary

Only the author can deliver their words exactly as they were intended. D.J. Swales clearly portrays his vision with incredible detail, leaving the listener with some eerie and disturbing imagery. I look forward to more installments, but before I hit play, I will be sure to keep all the lights on and be in a safe place.
