Moving from watching stand-up to actually building a set with careful wording, pauses, and concise setup so that even minimal words can land the punchline effectively.

It began with a free community workshop led by a New Zealand comedian that brought together ten local Pacific women from South Auckland; from there, six of them fell in love with the craft and decided to form The Southside Queens.

Q: Does it feel like anything has changed in your circles with your friends, given your big profile now?
Mostly no, with exceptions where a few people can address me differently, but the industry still feels like a close-knit club and it hasn't dramatically altered my day-to-day interactions.
