Ralph Apel is clearly a film music buff. His love of film music is shown through his respect for the music, he never talks too much over a track (doing so, really only to satisfy iTunes legal requirements), and when he does, its a fruitful, relevant and accurate comment, historical fact or piece of information. Please make more!
Excellent audio quality.
I came to this podcast from Ralph's other show, the Dharmalars. I like this podcast even better. It's a niche show only in that you have to like good music. I recommend it even if you never knew you liked film scores before, because chances are you will after listning for a while. But what do I know? Hook is one of my favorite movies. I will say that Ralph has never seen the Godfather at the time of my writing this, and that cost him a star because it has great music.
This podcast is excellent. It is very nice to hear a wide range of composers from all types of different movies. Ralph, the podcaster is perfect for the podcast because he is not an expert and talks about music like a casual listener in terms everyone can understand. This podcast has introduced me to a world of music that I would not normally explore. I highly enjoy this podcast and recommend it to anyone that enjoys movie scores.
I really love this podcast. It's just the right length and jammed packed with many selections. You'll hear old favorites and find out about rare treasures too! I like the narration, it gives context to the music. This will whet your appetite and make you want to add to your collection.
