The good: Galactica 2003 has long needed something a bit like it. It’s a rewarding podcast a lot of the time, albeit something of a sprawling mess. But it’s good to hear an exploration of a very fine tv series which has gone under-represented in the podsphere.
The bad: Our hosts ramble on for between an hour and two about each 43 minute show episode. Editing schmediting.
The ugly: the neofascist values of the presenters that permeate their narration.
I love this show! Battlestar Galactica was one of my favorite shows when it aired and I am really enjoying the rewatch alongside these ladies and their completely different views on the show. I went back and listened to the whole Prisoner breakdown and was blown away by the detail and emotional investment by the watchers. Can’t wait to listen to the earlier stuff and look forward to what they tackle next. (Hopefully classic Battlestar!)
Jesse Gender’s heartfelt and thoughtful approach earns this show five stars. Vera Wylde being wrong about 50% of the things she says and an obnoxious loudmouth about 100% of the things she says subtracts two stars.
I’ve been following both Vera and Jessie separately on their YouTube channels for a while now particularly in their respective coverages of Doctor Who and Star Trek (my two favourite
Sci-fi) but having them together on this podcast has been sublime. Being halfway through a Babylon 5 rewatch myself I’m now catching up on their reviews so far and seeing the episodes through fresh eyes is a delight.

I enjoyed every moment of this series! It helps that this is one of my favorite shows of all time. I received a new perspective, and loved the deep dive these talented creators delivered. Very highly recommended (watch the show before the appropriate podcast episode to get the most out of this)!!! Thank you so much Vera and Jessie for your hard work, and attention to detail. Great job!

A fiber of science-fiction fandom and sharp, bantery analysis runs through these episodes, with conversations centered on classic sci-fi series, character arcs, and genre-mixing storytelling. Listeners often hear thorough deconstructions of episodes, praise for strong performances, and candid debates about themes like trauma, power dynamics, and ethics, all flavored with meta-commentary on craft and fandom. The format tends toward long-form, spoiler-filled discussions, with a lively rapport between two regular hosts who frequently cross-reference related media and industry shifts, making it appealing to devoted genre fans, content creators, and podcast enthusiasts seeking thoughtful but entertaining breakdowns.
