  • Off Topic

Was recommended an episode but felt that the conversation strayed from the topic frequently it was an hour long episode with what felt like 15 minutes of actual information and the rest were the hosts going on personal tangents

  • A bit of a lift, sometimes

Margaret, the host, is an excellent storyteller, and this show is an an opportunity to learn about people who try to make the world better, whether it’s by feeding people, organizing labor, or trying to kill Mussolini. Of course, it doesn’t always end well for the cool people, because if there’s one thing the establishment hates, it’s people who try to make the world better.

Also, Margaret is a really good writer, as both her scripts and her books show. Plus there’s book club where she reads to ... more

  • Trump is not Stalin, you are not Osip Mandelstam

I really can’t believe i’m having to say this. I was really excited to check out what looked like a cool podcast until I tried to listen to one episode and had to switch it off 5 minutes in, which i never do. let me clarify that i’m not a trump supporter and usually identify as more of an anarchist, so I’m pretty open to hearing what everyone has to say. however, the blatant lack of perspective and intellectual dishonesty with this one was a huge turn off.

As someone who’s studied Mandelstam, ... more

  • Amazing storytelling from Magpie

This show is a sanity anchor. The storytelling is lovely. My only small issue is: Subscriber edition is great BUT sometimes the ad free feed has ads? Even if I quit the app and reload.
