  • Misogyny & Objectification of Women

I’m so glad there are actual movements like this fighting the normalization of these forces in society. I’m an atheist, so my views aren’t informed my religion or “prudishness” or “insecurity” as men will often try to gaslight women into believing. P**n normalizes the objectification of women, which feeds male entitlement and asymmetrical power dynamics in relationships, period. Women are also lied to about p**n use, which is consent theft. We have the right to not be in relationships with men w... more

  • Great except for ads.

Love this podcast but there needs to be a better way to segue into advertisements. I understand the need for advertising, that’s not the issue. However they come at the most random and unexpected times and the volume of the ads is way louder than the podcast and it is always jarring. Please find a better way. Thanks.

  • This podcast will save lives

I too , like many people on these episodes, discovered porn at way too young of an age. Decades later I am still processing what that content has done to my brain, my relationships and my sexuality. However I do believe there is hope and the first step comes with recognizing this is a problem. This podcast is a source of information and compassion for those who have been victimized and also those who have hurt but want do better moving forward. Thank you for your work, thank you for these interv... more

Such a great episode. Love the discussion around how one of the worst parts of betrayal trauma is the madness of the intrusive thoughts and how you question yourself the barrage of self doubt and thinking you’re the issue. 😥 I also love the part about coming back to your body and more full self and rediscovering what brings you joy. Bessel Van Der Kolk says “Remember to remember”, and I think that’s key. 💛

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

I Tried Everything To Quit Porn
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about who you are and what brings you here today?
I've spent years wrestling with porn, sharing my story publicly to help others understand where the struggles come from and how healing can begin when you address underlying wounds rather than just trying to stop the behavior.
How Young People Are Learning About Sex (And What They're Getting Wrong)
Q: Teach Us Consent started after you shared an Instagram post. Can you share what that post was and what led you to make it?
The post asked whether anyone close to you had been sexually assaulted by someone from an all-boys school in Sydney, which sparked widespread responses and became a national push for consent education across Australia.
How Young People Are Learning About Sex (And What They're Getting Wrong)
Q: No, it's incredible and conversations about consent are so important. Growing up, what kind of conversations did you have around relationships, sex and consent?
Conversations were limited and often framed around avoidance until older ages, shaped by purity culture and school lacking comprehensive consent education; the shift occurred after the Instagram post catalyzed a national petition.
How Watching Porn Can Escalate Into More Extreme Behavior
Q: How has the internet changed the trajectory of online sexual offending compared to previous decades?
The internet has lowered barriers to access and enabled rapid escalation to more extreme material. It removed many offline obstacles to grooming and accessing illegal content, increased anonymity, and facilitated the spread of harmful material, while still requiring responsibility and prevention efforts rather than blaming technology alone.
How Watching Porn Can Escalate Into More Extreme Behavior
Q: To start, can you tell us who you are and what led you into forensic psychology?
I'm Alexandra Bailey, head of psychology for the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and an associate professor at the University of Roehampton. My path into forensic psychology began with undergraduate and masters studies, followed by long-term involvement with the foundation, which cemented my focus on prevention of child sexual abuse and working with people who may pose risks to children.
