  • Why

I’ve never left a bad review for a podcast but I was so excited to listen to this podcast because I love discussing film scores but I’ve listened to a few episodes and all they do is complain. I got thirty minutes into the Thor Ragnarok episode and had to shut it off cause I just couldn’t take it anymore. All they did was bash on the movie and wouldn’t even hear the guy out who was trying to explain it. I was half way through the episode and the podcast about movie score had yet to even bring up... more

  • Do your basic research

I just think that if you guys are going to do an ‘analysis’ that includes the music of The Shining, you could at least take sometime to do some basic research. You can even do it in Wikipedia, I mean for the level of care you took, Wikipedia will do just fine. You guys said that besides Penderecki, the rest of the music was by some ‘Italian’ guy. György Ligeti is one of the most important Hungarian composers of the 20th century. If that’s the level of research you did, no wonder you have no more... more

  • Hilarious, informative and sometimes baffling

A "drinking podcast discussing movie scores" - this beauty is hosted by three of the most nauseatingly nice white dudes and looks at the scores of the big screen. One can't speak, one can't be serious about anything and then there's Alex. They can be overly critical for three nerds in a basement and hiding from their spouses (now in insolation starring at a screen) but they're HUGELY entertaining, funny, and very engaging. It's like being from a small town and going home for the Thanksgiving and... more

  • Das Zimmerhans

Listening to this podcast has greatly increased my knowledge of film scores and film composers, almost as much as it has increased my (arguably unfair) prejudice against Hans Zimmer.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (1989) - Series 15: Episode 230
Q: How do you feel about the movie's portrayal of Nazis?
They were treated comedically in the 80s, and there's enough distance to talk about their portrayal now.
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (1989) - Series 15: Episode 230
Q: What do you think about Indiana Jones as a character?
He's human. All the Nazi punching and everything is incidental. He's there because he's excited about finding artifacts.
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984) - Series 15: Episode 228
Q: Would you choose Charles Bernstein's score to stay awake?
I don't think so. I think it would make me too scared to go to sleep.
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984) - Series 15: Episode 228
Q: What do you think of this score?
It's probably a summer. The main theme is one of the most delicious melodies for a horror film.
THE APARTMENT (1960) - Series 15: Episode 215
Q: Andrew, do you have anything else to say about the score?
I think I said enough about the score personally.
