Reviews

4.3 out of 5 stars from 88 ratings
  • Concerns about the accent

Is it possible to find a host and journalist with less pronounced accents? I have concerns that prolonged exposure to heavy accents, as in Platts' podcast, could influence both my own accent and that of my students, which is why I hesitate to use the valuable information they provide.

  • Poor audio

The mixing on mic levels of guests and between episodes is truly rough. Some are like a whisper, others booming. Often this leads me to delete episodes and forego content.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Decarbonizing India's industrial, power sectors: challenges and roadmaps
Q: What impact will India's Emissions Trading Scheme have on industry, and how can carbon credits drive decarbonization?
The scheme can turn emissions into a revenue stream by rewarding efficiency through carbon credits, with regulated targets and a voluntary market expanding participation; it will push sectors to decarbonize while enabling some buyers and sellers to monetize strategies, though robust policy design and phased rollout are essential.
Decarbonizing India's industrial, power sectors: challenges and roadmaps
Q: What should a credible sector-specific decarbonization roadmap include, and what steps can industries take to put it into action?
A credible roadmap should anchor itself in national interest and global markets, with sector-specific milestones over 10–15 years, phased and risk-adjusted steps that address energy efficiency, alternative fuels, circularity, and carbon capture, while aligning supply chains, policy stability, and financing. Industries should prioritize energy efficiency, capex planning, and pilots for CCUS and green hydrogen, then gradually scale up to more ambitious, lower-emission technologies as costs and markets mature.
Unpacking the global poultry price flip: Why are chicken legs now pricier than breast meat?
Q: What are participants in North Asia saying about availability and price-sensitivity?
Buyers remain focused on securing volumes for boneless legs amid limited confidence in supply recovery, while importers become more price-sensitive and consider substitution or altering product mix to manage elevated costs.
Unpacking the global poultry price flip: Why are chicken legs now pricier than breast meat?
Q: So why won't China export to Japan or South Korea easily, and how does that affect global supply?
Even with higher overall exports from China, market access restrictions require cooked products for those destinations, and product mismatch (preference for legs) means much of China's export volume is absorbed by the Middle East rather than Japan or Korea, limiting direct competition for leg cuts in those markets.
Unpacking the global poultry price flip: Why are chicken legs now pricier than breast meat?
Q: So Rubashiny, please can you tell us what have you seen in our Platts global poultry assessments up to now?
Rubashiny outlines how the shift began with Brazil's bird flu-driven supply constraints, followed by a surge of Chinese exports and a redistribution of flows to the Middle East, leading to a new pricing structure where legs have strengthened relative to breast meat.
