Reviews

4.8 out of 5 stars from 28 ratings
  • Give the guest some space

The host means well but simply can’t let the show be about the guest. He dominates the conversation. I felt sorry for the guest who could hardly get a word in; or at least he should be allowed to respond in full. The best host knows about tzimtzum. Less is more.

  • Very interesting topics and discussion; too much cross-talk

Excellent, stimulating topics, host and guests. I think the podcast could be improved if it was talking over the guests by host - in podcast i.e. an audio format, it is difficult to hear what both people are saying at once.

Howard Langer: A Lost World in a New World
Q: Was including elements of American racial politics in your book a risk for you?
Well, it was self-published because many agents labeled the black content as cultural appropriation, but I wanted to be sensitive to the language used by the characters.
Howard Langer: A Lost World in a New World
Q: Can you give us a brief thumbnail of The Last Dekreptizer?
The book begins with a man playing a violin in a subway station in New York City in 1965, describing his journey and identity as the last member of his Hasidic sect.
Jeremy Brown, MD: Pestilence, Plague and Perseverance
Q: Is there a role for religion's communitarian capacity in responding to pandemics?
Yes, the emphasis on community in Judaism has greatly influenced how communities respond to pandemics, but it can also pose risks.
Jeremy Brown, MD: Pestilence, Plague and Perseverance
Q: What are the benefits and risks associated with trying to peg religious history to science?
The risk comes when people pin their belief on showing that the Bible contains all this stuff that we only know today scientifically. It can lead to frustration when scientific understanding evolves.
Yariv Inbar: I, Spy
Q: What surprised you during the writing of Operation Bethlehem?
Researching for the book revealed many fascinating archaeological details about Israel's history and deepened my understanding of its cultural significance.
