  • Absolutely top notch

Maybe it’s just me but I’ve replaced Netflix with this podcast alone. Love the breadth and depth that topics are discussed, and the hosts always ask questions that invoke my own thinking. Not sure how they do it but after an episode, I feel like I myself was having a conversation with the guests!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Depression guideline: why universal screening isn’t recommended
Q: How do you use the screening tools if you suspect depression?
I have a flow approach rather than a formulaic one, asking about various symptoms naturally rather than just relying on questionnaires.
Depression guideline: why universal screening isn’t recommended
Q: What was your first impression of the screening guidelines?
The first impression indicated that routine screening for everyone did not make a difference for outcomes, which didn't surprise me as depression is a huge problem, but standardized assessments might not significantly improve outcomes in practice.
What to know about cannabis-induced psychosis
Q: How often do patients respond to the treatment for cannabis-induced psychosis?
It's generally a treatable condition, and psychotherapy is a main approach; however, there's no specific pharmacological treatment proven effective for cannabis use disorder.
What to know about cannabis-induced psychosis
Q: Are we unmasking an underlying psychotic disease in people who use cannabis or is the cannabis causing the underlying condition?
Psychosis is multi-factorial and it's difficult to pin down a single cause. Cannabis may not be the sole factor; there could be other predispositions involved.
Guideline offers roadmap for spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy care
Q: What are the treatment options available once SBMA is diagnosed?
Currently, there are no disease-modifying agents or cures. Treatment focuses on symptomatic management, such as modifying diets for those with dysphagia and providing respiratory support.
