  • Thank you!

A fantastic podcast. I’m on my first read through of the series (currently up to ASOS) and it has been so so fun to read the chapter and then listen to the group’s thoughts on it. All of the hosts are witty, clever and insightful and this podcast has very genuinely brought a bright spot for me in a challenging time. Thanks so much for the time and effort you’ve put into this!

  • Intelligent and hilarious

The women, and occasional man, on this podcast are insightful, funny and very knowledgeable about A Song of Ice and Fire and A Game of Thrones. As they unapologetically state, they are huge fans of Jaime and Brienne and their relationship, but they don’t stint on their examination of the other characters. It’s like listening in on a wonderful book club!

  • A fab podcast

This podcast has been my faithful companion since 2017 and I have loved every bit of it. The podcasters’ knowledge of the source material is encyclopaedic and their humour refreshing. Their most recent read (or re-read) of the books is fantastic.

They welcome questions, comments and constructive criticism with eagerness and are happy to engage in highly articulated debates. The diversity of the panel is definitely a plus and it enriches the experience for the listeners.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

636: ADwD Reek III
Q: Any thoughts on the Great Northern Conspiracy? Which Northern Lords would you most want to conspire with?
They speculate that Lady Dustin and several Northern houses might be involved, agreeing that the North's politics are complex and that alliances could shift based on who is loyal to the Starks versus the Boltons; the hosts express a desire to see which lords might join a resistance or conspiratorial effort.
631: ADwD Jon VI
Q: When did you realize it was Mance?
Listeners note that several of the hosts aren't sure when the moment of recognizing Mance happened; they recall having an awareness that it was him but don't remember the precise tipping point.
612: The Hedge Knight - Part II (re-reread)
Q: How well do you think George RR. Martin handles walking the line of giving the small folk a POV via Dunk while with his story intricately linked to high-born shenanigans?
It works well because Dunk brings a perspective from the small folk that contrasts with the high-born characters.
611: The Hedge Knight - Part I (re-reread)
Q: Does Dunk's title as a knight relate back to Brienne and the possibility of her being knighted?
The hosts discuss how Dunk's potential knighthood parallels Brienne's own struggles for recognition and honor within the knightly community.
610: ADwD The Windblown
Q: What do you take from Quentyn's descent into hell?
It's a reminder of the responsibilities that come with parenting and the impact of war on children.
