Love yall but the extremely self serious television criticism for the shows are extremely exhausting
Emmett shines in this duo, whereas Manu fades. Seems like a good guy and hang but Manu routinely uses filler words (count the number of times he says “kinda”) and flubs his prepared remarks. Maybe try editing and multiple takes?
Hope that Emmett continues to pod after the ASOIAF journey he has real analytical and vocal talent.
Enjoyable to listen to and they offer some interesting insight. Unfortunately, Manu sounds like a 14 year old who just read the Communist Manifesto for the first time (and I say this as someone who shares most of his beliefs). If you fast forward through some of his sections, it’s a 5-star podcast.
Doing a complete relisten of the whole entire podcast. From the quality of the audio, the growth of the synopsis/in-depth discussion. Nothing has truly changed only improved!!! Funniest thing is to think that you would make it to a dance of dragons and only a couple of years.
Love listening to the show. Personally, Manu is pretentious and sometimes really annoying to listen to. Only bad thing I could say. Their analysis is fine for the most part, just too academia smarter-than-thou. Makes me miss BryndenBFish heavy

Two concise hosts provide in-depth analyses of ASOIAF-related re-read content and HBO adaptations, blending literary critique with pop-culture comparisons. Episodes commonly cover character arcs, political intrigue, prophecies, and the interplay between power and morality, with frequent attention to pacing, battle sequences, and how source material diverges in later seasons. A standout aspect is the hosts' structured, chapter-driven discussions and willingness to engage cross-media lore, making it a solid pick for fans seeking rigorous, theory-driven conversations with occasional banter and guest-free focus. The format tends to reward loyal listeners who enjoy long-form breakdowns, comparative analysis, and a deep dive into both books and s... more
