  • New host

I wanted to give the new host a chance but he says “and stuff like that” or “and things like that” after every other declarative statement and it makes him sound like he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Unfortunately more often than not this makes it mostly unlistenable for me.

  • Good podcast, annoying marketing

The hosts are great and the content is *usually* okay. My complaint is every day they push a “bonus” episode, which auto downloads, that is actually another podcast completely unrelated to Vegas. I’m sure they get money or something for it, but SUPER annoying.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The ICE Airport Incident, Why Nevada Has No Federal Prosecutor, and Rents Rising Faster Than LA?
Q: David, what went down at the airport with ICE and why did it become a big story?
David explains that two individuals in plain clothes detained a man at the airport, the incident lacked clear identification and proper notification, and Homeland Security subsequently confirmed ICE involvement, with questions about due process and proper protocol.
Las Vegas Metro's Push to Be the Most High-Tech Police Force in America
Q: Does the data show that these technologies are driving down crime, or is that correlation not clearly proven yet?
Crimes have generally declined since the pandemic, and while officers argue tech helps, there isn't clear, direct evidence that the tech alone caused the decline, making attribution difficult.
Las Vegas Metro's Push to Be the Most High-Tech Police Force in America
Q: What are the main concerns from the public regarding privacy and civil liberties with this tech?
Concerns include the potential for overreach, who can access footage, what is recorded, where it is stored, and whether this information might infringe on private property or intended privacy.
Las Vegas Metro's Push to Be the Most High-Tech Police Force in America
Q: Can you explain the kinds of technology Metro PD is deploying and how widely it is being used?
Metro has expanded its drone fleet, uses Flock cameras, and has launched an AI initiative (KVN) with donations from wealthy supporters and a nonprofit pathway through Friends of Metro, rather than relying solely on public funds.
What It Actually Takes to Revitalize the Historic Westside
Q: What does the timeline look like for redevelopment in this area?
The timeline isn't a fixed deadline; redevelopment is complex and ongoing, with the city staying focused, strategic, and willing to advance multiple initiatives at once to keep momentum.
