Welcome to this new iteration of my podcast, which was called Making Design Circular and now has the same name as my Substack, Brackish. Brackish is a term used to describe water that is a mixture of saltwater and freshwater, for example, where a river meets the sea. I first encountered it sitting in a boat in just such water and it immediately became one of my favourite words. I am fascinated by ... more

  • Values, Believe, Liberate And Define

Katie has given me these words to ponder and act upon in her very down to earth, practical and “light bulb” moment podcasts! She shares and practices being kind and gracious to ourselves as we as makers negotiate our lives, art and sustainability in a tricky climate.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights and wisdom as I take the next steps on new pathways!

  • Helps me feel less overwhelmed about climate change

What I really love about Katie’s podcast (and work) is that she helps me feel like my contribution is enough. Climate change and running a business as an artist both can feel so overwhelming but Katie has helped me to see that my own unique contribution can be enough.

This podcast is a great way to learn how to do that.

Q: Could you talk to us a little bit about those two things and maybe give us some examples of where you found them?
In the Marquises Islands, for instance, there's a very beautiful geometric visual culture that transpires in woodwork. The nature was really something I'd never seen before with volcanic mountains.
