  • Personal and insightful

Personal and insightful interviews with interesting people. There’s a sense of heart, care and integrity in this podcast.

Matt Gibberd has genuine curiosity and seems to have a knack of asking the questions I want to know the answer to in interviews with people I find intriguing. It’s broadened my view on what home is and how that sense of home is developed to grow. It’s diverse, and at times fragile.

    My favourite podcast.

  • Exceptional

I find the psycho geography of home, emotions, buildings, objects and landscape, increasingly fascinating and keep stretching the wires of all sorts of thoughts back to what is home (recently Laurence Mitchell’s “Flint Country”and Bee Wilson’s “Heart Shaped Tin”).

So Homing is a sort of base camp for me (see also Matt’s book “A Modern Way To Live).

The Takero Shimazaki episode is full to the brim with brilliance. I’m going to re-listen to it several times, I know. My brain is fizzing. There a... more

Q: Can a prison ever feel like a home?
Yes, in part, through design choices that soften the environment, provide control and dignity, and introduce elements of normalcy and comfort that support rehabilitation rather than punishment.
Can a Prison Ever Feel Like Home? – with Professor Yvonne Jewkes
Q: What does that word home mean to you personally?
Home means sanctuary and a space that sustains creativity and emotional life, even when the physical dwelling is imperfect or interrupted by life's challenges.
Sue Stuart-Smith on Nature, Childhood & The Garden as Medicine
Q: How would you describe the connection between tending a garden and tending to your inner life?
She emphasizes that gardening helps metabolize thoughts, reduces stress, and allows people to process emotions by engaging with nature and its cycles.
Henry Holland on Reinvention, Resilience & Home in Two Halves
Q: Why the pivot from fashion to ceramics, and how did lockdown influence that?
After the label faced administration, I looked for a creative outlet and found ceramics; the lockdown accelerated this transition, turning a hobby into a practical business and eventually leading to a larger studio and a new brand focus.
Henry Holland on Reinvention, Resilience & Home in Two Halves
Q: How did the bullying experience influence your career and mindset?
Being bullied for being gay fueled a need to prove myself and to work harder, shaping a relentless drive that has underpinned my career in fashion and later in ceramics, while also prompting me to seek environments where I could be myself.
