  • Consistently brilliant

I’ve found my new fav show! Matt is my favourite interviewer and I subscribe to over fifty podcasts. I love the topics he’s interested in and how curious he is, how well he listens and uses follow up questions so naturally. It’s about houses yes, but so much more. It’s very personal and touches on relationships, parenthood, tragedy, habits, creativity, cooking, regrets, colour, safety, country vs city, careers, childhood, stages of life, design, hobbies, comfort, anxiety, fitness, - just loads o... more

  • A total design treat

One of my faves. Matt has such a special talent. He asks insightful, thoughtful and friendly questions and elicits wonderful, often poignant responses from his guests.

The somewhat stream of consciousness, free-ranging narratives are such a refreshing alternative from podcasts where hosts talk too much and/or don’t really listen to their guests so they miss following up on interesting strands of conversation.

    Thank you Matt!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Henry Holland on Reinvention, Resilience and a Home in Two Halves
Q: Why the pivot from fashion to ceramics, and how did lockdown influence that?
After the label faced administration, I looked for a creative outlet and found ceramics; the lockdown accelerated this transition, turning a hobby into a practical business and eventually leading to a larger studio and a new brand focus.
Henry Holland on Reinvention, Resilience and a Home in Two Halves
Q: How did the bullying experience influence your career and mindset?
Being bullied for being gay fueled a need to prove myself and to work harder, shaping a relentless drive that has underpinned my career in fashion and later in ceramics, while also prompting me to seek environments where I could be myself.
Henry Holland on Reinvention, Resilience and a Home in Two Halves
Q: What sparked your interest in fashion and how did you get started?
I was always obsessed with fashion and packed my clothes to move between homes; I pursued journalism but chased fashion by interning and climbing into the industry, eventually starting House of Holland at 22 with little training and a lot of passion.
Elizabeth Day on Perfectionism, Positive Affirmations & Rebuilding Home After Loss
Q: What was your failure as a child, would you say?
The older I got, the less true I became to myself.
Max Rollitt on Interior Decorating, Sentimentality & the Home as Autobiography
Q: What does your home mean to you?
It's about enabling and creating warmth.
