I absolutely loved the pre-2025 Church for Chump‘s episodes. Something changed when Taylor came on and I don’t think it was for the better. I’m sure he’s a very nice brother in Christ, but there was such a good balance when it was just John and Thomas. Chemistry is not something you can create. It just kind of happens and I think there was really good chemistry when it was J and T. So for what it’s worth, from this lowly peasant I’d love to see the show return to its former greatness. Maybe Tayl... more
These guys are no chumps! This is always so fun and insightful. Thanks for what you do.
I love this podcast. We have been listening to it while we are painting our entire school campus. Y’all have some dope swag, no cap.
Similarly to how Taylor feels about good music, I find Congregationalism to be “unintelligible noise”. So I did not wait for the 5-Star Committee to come to a decision before leaving a 5-Star review for this excellent podcast, and neither should you. If you wait for the Podcast Listening Committee to give you permission, you’ll be behind on all the good inside jokes. So just listen now. Your Elders would approve.
Church History for Chumps is a lively dive into church history, with three hosts who blend wit and wisdom like pros. The token Congregationalist, holds his own, even if I suspect he’s mentally drafting meeting minutes mid-episode. The crew’s banter and insights make every era from Polycarp to Puritanism a blast. Great listen!

A history-forward show that makes church history accessible and entertaining through lively banter and deep dives into saints, councils, and pivotal religious events. Episodes often center on medieval topics—crusades, monastic figures, and theories of just war—while mixing modern-day reflections, ethical questions, and pop-culture references. The format tends to blend narrative storytelling with primary-source context, entertaining listeners who enjoy thoughtful analysis balanced with humor. A standout trait is the hosts' ability to tackle heavy theological and historical issues without sacrificing approachability, making it useful for curious laypeople and professionals seeking engaging historical context for faith, culture, and leadership... more
