Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Culture & Abortion Series - Part 1 - Abortion as Ordinary Healthcare: Changing the Culture
Q: How do identity factors like race, class, and geography affect abortion experiences here?
Identity factors intersect to create complex access barriers, including distrust rooted in colonial histories, financial and logistical hurdles, language barriers, and privacy concerns, which means experiences vary widely across communities and regions.
Culture & Abortion Series - Part 1 - Abortion as Ordinary Healthcare: Changing the Culture
Q: What would a healthier abortion culture look like in Canada?
A healthier culture would treat abortion as ordinary health care, reduce silence around the topic, and ensure equitable access and respect for diverse abortion experiences, allowing people to grieve and discuss their decisions without judgment.
Culture & Abortion Series - Part 1 - Abortion as Ordinary Healthcare: Changing the Culture
Q: When we say that abortion in Canada is legally settled but still culturally shaped, what does that mean?
It means that while there is no federal criminal prohibition, access depends on how care is organized locally, including regulation by health systems and physicians, and that cultural factors—stigma, power dynamics, and identity—still shape people's actual experiences.
Access Matters - Exposing the Illusion of Abortion Access
Q: Can you share an example of how you've expanded access in a specific community?
We trained providers in medication abortion and ultrasound capacity in remote communities, reducing the need for long travel; for instance, connecting a clinician in Northern BC with ultrasound support from a Lower Mainland partner to avoid multi-hour or cross-border travel.
In Their Own Words
Q: How did sharing the experience affect your relationship and your broader community?
It strengthened their bond, opened up honest dialogue with friends and peers, and created a quiet resource in the form of a song that invited others to witness and discuss the complexities of reproductive choices.
