Interesting story and the government should not interfere unless they are a danger to others. The young boy would have been dead and so be it. We don’t need to waste money time or effort. This is a learning lesson for many. Let them go and definitely don’t give money
There seems to be a lot of dislike for the boys and their family in these reviews but I really appreciated the amount of empathy Sam Mullins showed for everyone involved. Yes, the family is a bit woo-woo and believes in a lot of far out conspiracy theories. But they were also a family very worried about their son/brother not getting the help he needed. I battled an eating disorder while in high school in the mid-1990s in the U.S. and my (wonderful) therapist worked very hard to keep me out of ... more
NOT PAYING - to hear the rest. Paywall/subscription fatigue🙄
This was a captivating tale told excellently, but it felt stretched a little too far. At times, I found the podcast too impartial, which made the main characters come across as unlikeable. It would have been more interesting in the final episodes, if they were challenged on their decision making when interviewed. I wish the parents had been held more accountable for projecting their belief systems onto vulnerable children. Overall, an interesting listen!
I really enjoyed this story up to a point. Sam is a good storyteller and has a good voice for a podcast. However, I grew to hate the main characters of this story and felt, in the end, the podcast went from intriguing to not that big of a deal. There didn’t feel like a payoff to the story.
