  • Great Way to Stay Tuned In

As someone who is not native to the Central Valley, this is a great way to stay connected and informed with what’s happening in the valley.

  • Great Central Valley Podcast!!

This is a great way to get the news in the morning. Great way to wake up and stay informed, like turning on the local news headlines to start your day but with less or skippable commercials and you always start at the beginning if you want no matter what time you get up 😊

  • Did a child make this?

This is the strangest Central Valley podcast I’ve ever heard.; every episode is dedicated to the most trivial marginalia imaginable. KVPR reporters themselves don’t seem to have any interest in the critical policy issues affecting Valley residents and as a result they’re satisfied with just lazily churning out cutesy human interest and business stories each day. This is why I listen to KQED instead of KVPR even though I live in Fresno.

  • Great addition to my morning news!

I’ve been a long time listener of the morning NPR news podcasts and always hoped for one that was specifically for Fresno and the valley. Having CVD is awesome, they do a great job.

  • Water report 1/30/25

Great questions and representation from CalMatters. Need more in-depth. Do another that lasts longer with other experts pro and con but not nonsense people that just like to hear their own voice. 👍

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

June 9: A Controversial Climate Project Is Taking Root In A Fresno County Town
Q: So why even choose Orange Cove?
The host explains that Orange Cove was chosen partly because it has a single gas pipeline, making it easier to control the rollout, and because the state utilities program aims to pilot the technology in varied contexts before statewide adoption. The guest clarifies that the decision fits regulatory prompts and logistical practicality, while highlighting community concerns about consent and safety.
June 12: Fresno Native Discusses Playing In World Cup For U.S. National Team
Q: So, Max, you'll be on the US. Men's National Team for the World Cup. Your first game is on June 12th against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Just what exactly are you feeling right now?
I'm very excited and it's a dream come true moment to be part of the squad, especially with the World Cup so close to home; I'm focused, ready, and trying to contribute in any way I can for the team.
June 15: Animal Welfare Group Launches Lawsuit Against Chicken Giant Foster Farms
Q: How does this case leverage California's cruelty laws and what role does the SPCA authority play?
The case relies on Corporation Code 10404, which authorizes a specially incorporated SPCA to file civil complaints to redress cruelty violations, a mechanism we have used to bring cases and enforce anti-cruelty protections.
June 15: Animal Welfare Group Launches Lawsuit Against Chicken Giant Foster Farms
Q: What are your organization's key goals in this litigation?
We are seeking injunctive relief to stop ongoing abuse, declaratory relief to establish the violations, punitive damages where applicable, and independent audits to ensure ongoing compliance with any court orders.
June 11: Understanding California’s Complicated Ballot Process As Slow Returns Raise Suspicions
Q: First, can you give an overview of what ballot counting looks like in California and whether there is a statewide standard?
There sort of is; ballots are pre-counted and signed verification happens before results are released, then live ballots are counted and updates are issued as processing continues.
